Sod Installation

Sod installation in Gaithersburg, MD

Replace a thin, weedy or bare lawn with fresh sod and have a green yard in days, not seasons. Soil prep and installation for homes and properties across Montgomery County.

What's included

A lawn that starts out thick

Seed takes a full season to fill in. Sod gives you a finished lawn right away, as long as the soil under it is prepared properly.

Old lawn removed

We clear the old turf, weeds and debris so the new sod meets bare, clean soil.

Soil prepped & graded

The ground is loosened and leveled before anything is laid, so the sod roots in instead of sitting on top.

Laid, rolled & watering plan

Sod is laid tight with staggered seams and rolled for good soil contact. You get clear watering instructions for the first weeks.

Why Life is Green

A finished lawn, done the right way

The difference between sod that roots and sod that dies is the prep and the first few weeks of watering. We handle the first and tell you exactly how to handle the second.

FAQ

Sod Installation: common questions

When is the best time to lay sod in Maryland?
Early fall is the best window for cool-season grasses, with spring a close second. Hot mid-summer weather makes new sod much harder to keep alive, so we will tell you when it is better to wait.
Sod or seed: which should I choose?
Sod gives you a finished lawn right away and is the better choice for slopes, high-visibility front yards and areas where seed washes out. Seed usually costs less but takes a season to fill in. We will tell you which fits your yard.
How long until I can walk on it?
Light foot traffic is usually fine after about two weeks, once the roots have started to grab. Keep heavy use off it until it is firmly rooted.
Do you remove the old lawn?
Yes. We clear the old turf and weeds as part of the job, then prep the soil before laying the new sod.
